Theme not persisting after app restart
in progress

On mobile, iPhone, setting a theme [dark or light], amends the look of the app correctly. However, hard closing the app will undo/delete this change and on next startup the theme will be set back to 'automatic'.

This is a clear bug — setting dark or light mode should absolutely persist across app restarts, and reverting to Automatic every time you hard-close the app defeats the purpose of having the setting at all.
We actually had a related fix in v6.50.0 (Nov 3, 2025) where we corrected theme state not being properly passed to page state on mobile. However, it sounds like the hard-close scenario specifically (vs. backgrounding the app) may still be escaping the persistence layer.
We'll log this as an active regression for the iOS team to reproduce and verify against the latest app version. In the meantime: could you confirm which iOS version and which Taskade app version you're currently on? That helps us pinpoint whether this is isolated to a specific build.
Also worth trying: set your theme preference and then navigate through a couple of screens before closing — sometimes the write to persistent storage needs a moment to complete. But honestly, this should be seamless and we want to get it fixed properly. Thanks for the specific steps to reproduce.

Seems the same issue occurs in Android as-well, even in the new [horrendous AI-spam] update.

Hi there, could I clarify what you mean by "Hard closing" the app?
I've tried to do so on my end, and the theme does not reset back to automatic.

jiawei.kek on iPhone, when you long swipe from the bottom up, to see all opened apps, to switch between them. If you swipe an app 'up' in this list it shuts it down hard.

minor update - it takes some time after the hard close (10-15m), that a new app start will have the theme set back to automatic.
