Allow updating a file in media

Currently there is no way to update a file in media. We can edit the description, but not the actual file. The problem is that if I have links in multiple places to this file and I need to edit the contents, currently I would need to upload the file as a new file and then edit every link to it.
I'd like to be able to just replace a current file, so that links continue to point to the same, but now updated file.

This is a real pain point — having to re-upload and re-link a file every time you update its content defeats the purpose of a shared media library. In-place file replacement is the right behavior.
In v6.102 we shipped Agent File Uploads, giving AI agents the ability to view and work with media files in your workspace. The broader media management system is actively evolving, and file versioning / in-place replacement (so links stay stable) is on the roadmap.
Your description of the problem is clear and well-reasoned: stable URLs that reflect the latest version of a file. We've flagged this for the media team.

Agree on this. Often, we will update the markdown locally and it would be nice to upload the same file, with the same name and it replace the current file. If the updated date changes, then it would also be nice if your system auto-sync'd with any agent that is connected to that document.
