Suppose I can add custom field called 'task status', and then I have ability to sort the kanban board by 'block name' or by 'status'
That way in one go I will get a dashboard view of various tasks' status.
Similarly, if I can add a custom field for 'context' of tasks - meaning activities I can do from office, from a project site, or emails, phone calls etc, and then have the ability to sort tasks by 'context' then when I am at the site, I will know all the things I need to attend, or when I am in transit, I will know all the phone calls, emails I need to send out.
Others may have other custom fields, which they may want to add and use for their line of work.

I would love to have other options for native task status.
In the real world, tasks are not just a binary "not completed" or "completed." At a minimum, we need an "in progress" status. Other status options that would be helpful are "waiting", "on hold", and "canceled".
In Progress - the task is started but not yet completed.
Waiting - waiting on a resource, answer, or approval
On Hold - Task is on hold pending a decision or resource availability
Canceled - Decided not to do the task. These should be kept separate from completed tasks. Deleting the task is not optimal because it leaves no record of it.
Custom fields are great. But enhanced native task status seems like a core feature that should be available for a task-oriented app like Taskade.

Everyone has a different set up and associating functionality with it creates some issues because it's not intended behavior for users. How do you see this being resolved?

We have a quick preview where Custom Fields are available as add-ons in Action View and supported in all Project Views. You can customize field names and choose between a dropdown menu or text input. Open to thoughts. Cheers!

John at Taskade and ryantaskade would you consider adding a native "status" addon as well? Adding a Status to a project/task would open the gates for a true kanban board status view.
Taskade is really missing this feature - most project mangement tools have this; even Canny (your feature request provider) 🙂
Same goes for the hierarchy views; important that we are are able to have an overview when "zooming" out - having all the views on each Folder (Subspace) level, and also the top layer (Workspace) level; which could be under Home (maybe renamed to All folders)?
I want to make the switch to Taskade, however not offering such an important feature and overviews forces me to stick with Clickup 😑

pauk We're not against any of these suggestions! The issue is how would you associate functionality with those fields?
Even in Canny, you can edit and create custom statuses. Would you want this to apply across all workspaces?

This suggestion + Action view would be stellar. Action view needs to be customizable — let us add our own columns and categories. Taskade needs more customizable database-like features and this would be a powerful place to start.

Doesn't the tagging system allow for this now? But perhaps I've got it wrong...

sameer: Thanks for the suggestion and noted. We may add an add-on or 'task attachment' in the future to let you customize fields.
However, you can use #hashtags to tag blocks, tasks, and then click to filter them. I would give that a try!
