Apple pencil use OR handwriting recognition
planned
G C
I was just introduced to Taskade last week and one of the things that would really push me over the edge to TRY it is the use of my apple pencil on my iPad. I much prefer to write things down, and the option or having templates geared towards writing would make me want to try it out.

Thanks so much for this suggestion — and welcome to Taskade! Writing by hand really does help ideas stick differently, and you're not alone in wanting Apple Pencil support.
We don't have native handwriting recognition on iPad yet, but it's on our radar and we appreciate the continued interest. In the meantime, you can use iOS's built-in Scribble feature (Apple Pencil → any text field) to write directly into Taskade tasks and notes — it converts to text automatically, no special setting needed.
Beyond that, Taskade Genesis (https://taskade.com/create) lets you build AI-powered workflows that can capture and organize your ideas once you've inputted them. Think of it as giving your notes a brain. We also have 1,000+ templates at https://taskade.com/community that might help bridge the gap. Keep the feedback coming — every vote helps us prioritize!

I use a Surface Pro and OneNote for my notes where drawing is required. It would be fantastic to see a drawing feature in taskade!

Hi!
Your app is great, but I do miss taking notes with my pencil on ipad or sketching/drawing.
It would be great, if you would integrate this kind of tool also :)

Agreed, G C and Narek Zograbian. I want to be able to write out my tasks/appointments, especially, and have it just work.

scrivtopher: Would you want a separate workflow for creating a project or tasks through handwriting?
I'm assuming you want something like GoodNotes? We can potentially use OCR to convert handwritten text into actual text or tasks.
Maybe we can import a photo of handwritten text and convert it into tasks?
Any clarification helps!

Narek Zograbian: Really I'd just like to be able to write down appointments & tasks, then have them converted to text in their normal context. So if I write "[date] dinner with the boss at [location] [time]" for example, it just creates an appointment in my calendar in the normal text format. Put another way, if I could hand-write events for my Google calendar or Outlook or whatever, that'd be fantastic. So tasks / appointments through handwriting, as you put it. I'm not very familiar with GoodNotes; I'm new to a lot of this stuff. Catching up from 20 years of being out of IT.
I like the organization & look of typed text, but I'd like to be able to hand-write my typed text, if that makes sense. I don't really want digital calendar covered with my scribbles.
Narek Zograbian
scrivtopher: Hmmm. Apple Pencil has an option to write out all of your text.
Here's a link to it:
Are you looking for something like that?

Narek Zograbian: Yes!

scrivtopher: Thank you for confirming! It seems like this feature request is for something like a canvas-like experience in Taskade.

Handwriting function

Dear Taskade Team,
I am an avid user of Taskade and appreciate the versatility and utility the app brings to my daily workflow. I write to you today to suggest a feature that I believe could significantly enhance the Taskade experience for users like myself who frequently use styluses for note-taking.
As someone who often uses an Apple Pen or a Xiaomi pad pencil to jot down notes and ideas, I find the need to manually transcribe these handwritten notes into Taskade, which can be time-consuming. I would like to request the integration of a handwriting recognition feature that utilizes Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to convert handwritten text into digital text within Taskade.
Here's a proposed outline of how the feature could work:
- Handwriting Input: Allow users to write in a dedicated handwriting space or even directly onto tasks and notes within Taskade using a stylus.
- Handwriting Recognition: Implement OCR technology to recognize and interpret the handwritten input accurately.
- Conversion and Editing: Provide the option to convert the recognized text into editable text that integrates seamlessly with Taskade's existing text-based notes and tasks.
- Synchronization: Enable the feature across platforms so that users can begin their notes on an iPad and later edit them on a PC or another supported device.
- Searchability: Once handwritten notes are digitized, they should be searchable along with other types of entries for easy reference and organization.
The benefits of such a feature would be multifold, streamlining the note-taking process for stylus users, allowing for quick digitization of ideas, and maintaining the organizational and collaborative advantages of Taskade.
I strongly believe that the addition of this functionality would not only increase the value proposition of Taskade to current users but also help attract new users who currently rely on separate handwriting-dedicated apps.
Thank you for considering this suggestion. I and many other Taskade users would be excited to see such a feature implemented and stand ready to offer any further input required.
