Tag individual tasks, search across projects
complete
Celina Starnes
Batch tasks on the fly by searching #Hashtags like #BuyStuff or #5minTask, etc. If I am at the store, I would like to to pull all my #buystuff tags, across projects. If I am waiting for a meeting to start I would like to knock off a couple of 5 min tasks, rather than going through projects looking for these tasks.

Hi Celina Starnes do give Taskade a try again, your request has been resolved and live over at https://www.taskade.com/search

This is currently live, visit https://taskade.com/search. There's a 'tasks' tab that will find #hashtags across all your projects and let you cross them out.
Note: You can also use the shortcut cmd + k or ctrl + k, type in your hashtag, then press cmd + k or ctrl + k again to be redirected to these tasks.

Dionis Loire: Thanks for the update! So when I test this, I don't see the task titles when searching - (e.g. if I have a tag #Next and search for it, it returns that these tasks exist, but I still have to click on them to get detail to find out what they are.
Dionis Loire
Michael Miller: I'm not sure I completely understand. For example, if you visit https://www.taskade.com/search?q=%23next&type=task this will list out all tasks with '#next' and give you the ability to cross them out without accessing the project. The entire task will appear, task including the hashtag.
Can you clarify what you mean by "still have to click on them to get details to find out what they are"? Thank you! :)
Michael Miller
Dionis Loire: Thank you - I noticed that I had some existing tags that were uppercase "#Next", but when I changed them to lowercase "#next", it worked!
Dionis Loire
Michael Miller: Should we make it case insensitive?
Юрий Тюжин
Dionis Loire: Absolutely yes.
Юрий Тюжин
Dionis Loire: It is necessary to visually divide search results into active projects and completed projects.

I use tags for simulating a GTD system. N means next. I want to see next actions on all projects, in a place. It's normal..not?

Tag search to show children
Pak Lee
Would it be possible on tag filtering, show any children of matching nodes?
For example we might tag parent nodes, but have multiple children nodes pertaining to the parent topic. Currently only the parent is displayed on filter, so some details may be missed by the user.

Hi Celina Starnes thanks for the suggestion! For now you can try using https://www.taskade.com/search to search across projects, but we will look into improving #hashtags to filter across projects.
Would it help if when you click on a #hashtag, we give you 1 shortcut link to take you to https://www.taskade.com/search?q=hashtag ?
Loren Haug
John at Taskade: I have the same request as Celina. This alternative is okay, but not really a solution. After completing the hashtag search I must then click into each project individually to check the box or read the full text. If my shopping list is spread across many projects, I have to click in and out of multiple projects.
It’d be great if the tags/hashtags could be used to compile a checklist that better resembled the My Tasks tab either within the task tab, or the search tab, or by filtering from within the workspace structure. This might best be explained as allowing the filter option with tags at the workspace level to display results extending past the workspace projects and into folders, projects within folders, and tasks within projects.

Loren Haug: Thanks so much for the detailed explanation, we are working on this very soon, stay tuned! :)

John at Taskade: Hi John, I know you've already indicated that you're working on this, but I just wanted throw my support behind it. As a manager, I would love to quickly search for tags like #highpriority or #next and see the corresponding tasks from all projects in an easily readable & actionable list/dashboard format. The current solution requires a lot of clicking in and out of projects as Loren describes above, and doesn't easily let me check things off or add comments during a review session. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this!

Michael Miller: No problem and our pleasure, we are looking at also expanding https://taskade.com/search to support this use case, please stay tuned.

John at Taskade: Thanks for narrowing where searches happen. So nice to be able to search only project titles (or tasks, etc) for key words now! This is great for the task retrieval side of the equation.
Looking forward to your solutions on the "task tagging" side of the equation. Grateful for all your hard work!
