Taskade Pricing Transparency and Product Direction Concerns
2eli
I’d like a more transparent pricing guide. I pay for many services and usually have a clear sense of what I’m getting. With Taskade, I didn’t notice at first because I rarely ran out of credits, but after doing the math:
- I’m on a “Pro Unlimited Legacy” plan and get a flat 500 messages, regardless of token context.
- The credit cost is the same across models, so Pro GPT‑4o and GPT‑4o mini consume credits equally, which doesn’t make sense.
- AI Agents still don’t support simple image uploads.
There’s also confusion about the product’s direction. We mainly focus on project management with AI features, but Taskade feels unfocused. It would make sense to choose a core feature and make it great. New things can be added, but they should be features.. not complete app overhauls.
I’ve been an early "legacy" user, yet the subscription doesn’t currently feel worth it. That can change, but right now it feels like the product is moving backward.
I came to Taskade for AI Agents, and it’s drifting from that while becoming less cost‑effective than alternatives. I never thought I’d consider canceling, but here we are.

The team is working to provide different solutions for credits consumption, which will hopefully ease credit usage for most of our users and prevent cases where paid users are totally locked out of using AI.
As of now, we pushed an update that allows for the Genesis AI to still function if users hit the credit limit, if put on the "Auto" mode.
Though we are working on improving it's functionality, and for the same behavior to exist in AI agents.
This requires extensive testing of different language models and iteration on our end, and we are working to provide the best solution with the resources we have.
We truly appreciate your understanding and patience in the matter.

100%, product direction & utility are big concerns right now, yet updates from the team and dialogue with users seem to have become much less frequent / efficient. Very concerning.

superstrat3gist Yes! I totally agree on this. I just wanted to open up the conversation because, while I understand it is hard to keep up with all the products out there, just making Taskade great at what it is - is way better than trying to make it a combination of five AI products in one at a lower quality level than what the others are at.

Interesting that product direction is mentioned here. I think users sense that they are no longer being listened to. The weekly feature requests are fewer now (significantly so) as users appear to have no idea what would work in the new product and any requests to tidy it up and make it navigable are ignored. It's so difficult to get into a project now given that the focus is on building something new rather than working on something which exists. If the team doesn't wake up to sentiment soon, I fear the future for them. Like you said - I would not have considered moving to an alternative platform a year ago, but right now it's very tempting.

dr_graham This can either mean there are fewer users overall, or they have lost hope in making requests as they get ignored. QoL Requests are made and I don't see them implemented, I only see a new feature added that makes the app more confusing.
(still having the issue where If I delete a previous chat in an AI Agent, I still need to alt-tab to leave the app, and alt-tab back in to activate the text field before I can start typing again)
I started using taskade as a project management tool and alternative to obsidian with AI Agents, and now I feel like I'm using CursorAI-lite after this genesis addition.

2eli: For the bug you mentioned, where are you facing it on? This seems fine on my end, though I may be misunderstanding you.

2eli: I see. This seems to be a windows application only issue. Both Mac OS and Web browsers do not have this issue. I'll need to test it out on a windows PC when I have access to one.
Thanks for the video, I'll look into it later on when I have access to a windows pc
