Web app & desktop app have become too slow or crash too regularly

Since the last few updates and the inception of Genesis both the web app and the desktop app have become extremely slow, compute / memory-intensive and now tend to crash more and more regularly. This has never been the case before and degrades product experience considerably on top of the UI/UX issues flagged multiple times. Please advise on the steps taken to make the application more useable and less resource-intensive.

After further investigation, it turns out the background animation now present on nearly every single page sucks a lot of GPU resource for nothing. Disabling hardware acceleration in browser settings (for the web app) alleviates the issue, but the problem for the desktop app stays the same. Moving agent discussions in a separate window (where there is no background animation) also helps. Any further proposals / corrections welcome.
