It should be possible to just do shift+enter to create new lines in the same task.
The problem is people will find alternatives to make it more simple if it gets lengthy and use taskade for other things tasks only related which isn't good as people can just use something else instead.

Hi everyone, marking this completed with all available options, you can use Shift + Enter to create multi-line notes in Taskade. Please see https://help.taskade.com/hc/en-us/articles/16630375626259--Multi-Line-Notes for more information.
For multiple tasks, you can also turn them into paragraphs, simply select 'Paragraphs' formatting for one or multiple tasks / bullet points. See https://help.taskade.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042894833--Editing-Formatting for additional details.
So, to summarize, there are a few ways to create multi-line paragraphs in Taskade projects/documents:
- Use Shift + Enter to create multi-line notes under each item.
- Select 'Paragraph' formatting for your task, or multi-select > 'Paragraph Formatting'.
- Add a comment to a task/item and write paragraphs inside the comments.
If you have further requests, please make a post directly in taskade.com/feedback or ping our team.

John at Taskade: Could you please clarify how this would function on mobile devices? It might be more effective if the process were reversed.
As a default, the app allows you to create multi-line notes under each item by pressing ‘Enter’.
Choose ‘Paragraph’ formatting for your task or select multiple tasks and apply ‘Paragraph Formatting’ by pressing ‘Shift + Enter’.
You can add a comment to a task or item and write paragraphs within the comments.

universaldesignz: Hi there, for mobile devices, you can find the add-on for multi-line notes from the plus icon in the toolbar and then the Paper icon.

Hi, is there an update/ETA for this?
john

For larger paragraphs, you can also select 'Paragraphs' formatting for multiple bullet points. See https://help.taskade.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042894833--Editing-Formatting for additional details.
So, to summarize, there are a few ways to create multi-line paragraphs in Taskade projects/documents:

I hope this helps!

Thanks again everyone and stay tuned. Note for now, you can use /paragraph to set each node to paragraph formatting and enter to create new paragraph nodes.
In addition, you can select multiple tasks and update them into paragraphs in the bottom multi-select toolbar menu.

I just want to type multiple, single spaced lines (a simple single-spaced list), but can’t because pressing ENTER always creates a paragraph break resulting in double spacing. I hope an upcoming enhancement will allow this basic functionality.
John at Taskade
chaslp: Thanks, we will enable "SHIFT + ENTER" in the near future so you can write multiple lines for each task (node) in Taskade.
For now, note you can always create new tasks, select them all, and set them to 'Paragraph' formatting.
You can also use /slash command to set /paragraph for the current node you are editing.

John at Taskade: Yes that's great! Shift+Enter is the most common and the only (also historically) correct way to add a Line Break! Glad to see you keep to the standards! Makes me love Taskade even more!
John at Taskade
Mario Kempter: Our pleasure, this is definitely in the works and we hope to support it very soon.

Hoping there's any update about this feature.
John at Taskade
eavjr: Coming very soon, stay tuned!

Bumping this wildly popular request (130+!) so we can get some eyes on it!
John at Taskade
maraalcocer: Thanks Mara, we have a prototype, this is something we are working towards, stay tuned.
Would a simple "SHIFT + RETURN" to create a line break work ok?
maraalcocer
John at Taskade: This sounds perfect. Thanks for the update!
universaldesignz
John at Taskade: We need something like a Word Processor When you have fair bit to type on Shift Return would be a proper solution.
John at Taskade
universaldesignz: Noted, the initial release will allow you to add line-breaks with SHIFT + ENTER on each task or bullet point.

John at Taskade: From a typing stand point, it is more natural to press enter while typing a paragraph rather than having to press the combo. It might make more sense to have the SHIFT+ENTER command trigger the creation of a new bullet point instead.
John at Taskade
Joshua Dunn: Noted on the suggestion, due to the outliner and tree-structured document nature of Taskade projects, we will likely keep the enter behavior and make multi-line available via shift+enter, please stay tuned.
John at Taskade
Joshua Dunn: Outlining 101 explained here: https://help.taskade.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015872614

Mario Kempter
Joshua Dunn: Nope it doesn't! If you have a keyboard with num pad you'll notice the "Enter" button on the right. That - most of the time, especially on older keyboards - equals the LINE FEED (Shift + Enter). The big Enter key next to the alphabetic letters always creates a new paragraph and is named "carriage return".
Historically this comes from typewriters. While the small line feed enter key just turns the paper feed (Line Feed), the big enter button turns the feed and moves the carriage to the beginning of the line (Carriage Return).
So I think:
A new Paragraph should create a new item like it is now.
A line break should break the line but shouldn't exit the paragraph.
ENTER for new items and SHIFT + ENTER for line breaks is the place to go!
Another great addition why this is great:
Taskade (=Task Aid) is there to help me organize quickly. So most of the time I just throw in keywords and add descriptions/images later in the process. So I get an outline amazingly fast and that's why I love that ENTER does new elements and paragraphs!
universaldesignz
Word processor so it's more easy to type additionally the bottom feature would be an awesome added on for multiple usage.
John at Taskade
universaldesignz: Thanks and noted on the suggestion.
